Plot Summary
- In the town of Oakey Oaks lives "Chicken Little" Cluck (Zach Braff), a young and diminutive rooster, who suffers from a reputation for being called crazy. Little rings the school bell and warns everyone to run for their lives. This sends the town into a panic causing multiple accidents and even causes the huge overheard water tower to topple. Eventually, the Head of the Fire Department calms down enough to ask him what is going on. He explains that the sky is falling because a piece of it had fallen on his head when he was sitting under the big oak tree in the town square.However, Little cannot find the piece and says that it was shaped like a stop sign. His father, Buck "Ace" Cluck (Garry Marshall), who was once a high school baseball star, assumes that it was just an acorn that had fallen off the tree and had hit him on the head, making Chicken Little the laughingstock of the town. Buck apologizes for the 'false alarm,' but the townsfolk are not quick to forgive Chicken Little.A year later, Chicken Little has become infamous in the town for being prone to ruin everything accidentally. A movie is about to hit the theaters about the Crazy Little Chicken, based on the events that took place on year ago. The event was already a huge media hit, and a book was published on the same, which spawned into a board game, a website and the commemorative plates. The town simply would not allow Little and Buck to forget. The town even has bumper stickers on cars related to the event. Buck tells Little to lay low, but Little believes that one moment changed his life and a different moment can change it right back. All he needs is a chance to do something great.His only friends are other outcasts: Abigail "Abby" Mallard (Joan Cusack) nicknamed "Ugly Duckling", Runt of the litter (Steve Zahn) a large and cowardly pig who is much larger than the other children but is far smaller than the other members of his family, and Fish Out of Water (Dan Molina) a goldfish who wears a helmet full of tap water. Abby wants Little to have a straight talk with Buck to clear the air, but Little is not sure that would work and believes that his plan has a better chance of making Buck proud of him again.At school, Chicken Little and his friends endure a game of Dodge Ball, before being pushed around by Foxy Loxy (Amy Sedaris) a mean fox who is a baseball star and the "hometown hero", and her friend, Goosey Loosey (Mark Walton) a dimwitted goose. This leads to Chicken Little accidentally pulling the fire alarm, which leads to his father coming to take him home.Chicken Little joins his school's baseball team to recover his reputation and his father's pride (who was a baseball star himself long ago). Buck is skeptical as Little is really small, but Little is adamant that he wants to emulate Buck. Little feels disappointed that his own father does not believe in him. However, his plans to make his father proud are sidelined when Foxy Loxy becomes the team's champion, leading the team to the final game of the season. Little continues to train hard with his friends, even though the coach ignores him in all the games.Chicken Little is called up to bat, but only after the roster is almost out of players in the ninth inning of the last game. Coach tells him to just take a walk (a batter being awarded first base after receiving four pitches outside the strike zone that they didn't swing at), as Foxy is the next batter and this way she can help win the game. If Little swings and he is out, he will the third out and the game would be lost. The audience and the commentators are already lamenting the loss of the game as Little is on strike.Little ignores his coach and decides to hit the ball but misses in the first 2 attempts. He now has 2 strikes against him. He hits the ball in the 3rd attempt and makes it past first, second, and third bases but is met at home plate by the outfielders. He tries sliding onto the home plate but is touched by the ball. While it is presumed, he lost the game, the umpire brushes away the dust to reveal Chicken Little's foot is touching home plate, thus declaring him safe and the game won. Chicken Little is hailed as a hero for winning the pennant.Later that night back at home, Chicken Little is hit on the head yet again by the same "piece of the sky", only to find out that it is not that, but rather a panel that blends into the background which would thereby explain why Chicken Little could not find it last time. He calls his friends over to help figure out what it is.When Fish pushes a button on the back of the hexagon, it flies into the sky, taking him with it. Little, Abbey and Runt follow Fish's position to the baseball field, where suddenly, an alien spacecraft appears, out of which appear 2 alien creatures with tentacles and 3 glowing eyes. The panel turns out to be part of the camouflage of an invisible UFO piloted by two aliensChicken Little, Abby and Runt go into the spaceship to rescue Fish. Little finds a floating orange mass of hair, that seems to sprout an eye. After walking away, the thing then sprouts 3 eyes and limbs and secretly follows the group.The group eventually finds Fish, but Runt finds something even more terrifying: a map of their galaxy, with numerous planets crossed off, except for the next one: Earth! The group then rushes to get out of the spaceship, only to encounter the tentacled creatures that then give chase.The group rushes through town, intent to ring the school bell and warn everyone. Chicken Little manages to make it to the school bell but stops when he remembers the humiliation he endured after his last false alarm. However, hearing his friends panicking as the aliens draw closer, he rings the bell. The sound causes the aliens to quickly retreat to their ship. No one believes the story of the alien invasion and Chicken Little's reputation is ruined again. Chicken Little tries to convince his Dad that it was real (along with his friends), but Buck admits he doesn't believe him.The next morning, he and his friends discover the orange alien named Kirby, and minutes later, a fleet of alien ships descend on the town and start what appears to be an invasion. The invasion, however, is actually a misunderstanding, as the two aliens are looking for their lost child and attack only out of concern. As the aliens' rampage throughout Oakey Oaks, supposedly vaporizing everything in their path, Chicken Little realizes he must return Kirby to his parents to save the planet.In the invasion, Buck, having regained his pride and trust in his son, defends him from the aliens until they get "vaporized." The aliens, however, are not actually vaporizing people but Teleporting them aboard the UFO. It turns out the aliens were touring the galaxy and came to Earth as their next destination, and came across the town for its acorns. Their ship has broken camouflage panels that fell and hit Chicken Little on the head. After everything is explained, the apologetic aliens return everything to normal, and everyone is grateful for Chicken Little's efforts to save the town.Another year later, Chicken Little, Buck, his friends and the citizens of Oakey Oaks watch an in-universe movie depicting a fanciful retelling of the events that transpired, portraying Chicken Little as an action hero named Ace.
Storyline
- Ridiculed by the animal inhabitants of the peaceful Oakey Oaks community for his absurd notion that the sky is falling, the well-meaning young chicken, Chicken Little, promises to prove everyone wrong. However, one year later, there's still nothing on the horizon to justify Little's fears, when, out of the blue, the humiliated boy finally stumbles upon a real piece of evidence. Is Chicken Little and his loyal band of outcasts really on to something big this time? — Nick Riganas Despite having the whole town hating him, a young male chicken does everything that he can to save the town and the rest of the world from an alien invasion. With the help of his friends, he does everything that he can to earn the respect of the town. — RECB3 After Chicken Little causes widespread panic, when he mistakes a falling acorn for a piece of the sky, the young chicken is determined to restore his reputation. But just as things are starting to go his way, a real piece of the sky lands on his head. Chicken Little and his band of misfit friends, Abby Mallard (a.k.a. Ugly Duckling), Runt of the Litter, and Fish Out of Water, attempt to save the world without sending the town into a whole new panic.
