Plot Summary
- Ashish (Ajay Devgn) is a 50-year-old Non-resident Indian businessman and divorcee settled in London. Ashish is very practical, and a no-nonsense kind of person and he never pays for sex. He meets Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh), a 26-year-old girl at a friend's wedding. Ashish was throwing a bachelor's party for his friend but had not invited any stripper. But the bride asked her friend Ayesha to pose as a stripper as test the groom. The groom believes that Ayesha is an actual stripper and makes her sit on his lap, which is when the bride walks in and is livid.Ayesha explains to the bride that the groom was not into it and convinces her to go ahead with the marriage. Ayesha says that the groom had no erection, even when she was sitting in his lap. Ayesha says that the groom was acting under peer pressure and was acting happy. After a night of drinking, Ayesha falls asleep in Ashish's bathtub and wakes up naked under his sheets. She assumes that they had sex, but he corrects her. Ayesha is amazed that Ashish had the chance but did not have sex with her. Ashish says that he doesn't sleep with drunk women.Ayesha says that the rules of dating state that (Age-7)*2 is the maximum age that you are allowed to date. Ashish says that the formula is Age*2-7. But Ashish is above both the numbers in age. Ashish and Ayesha start with casual flirting, but it's clear that they are attracted to each other. Ayesha works at a bar. Ashish invests in early-stage startups. Ayesha was dating Akash (Sunny Singh), who cheated on her. Ashish convinces Akash that Ayesha was using him to get him to let go of her. Ashish tells Akash not to call or meet Ayesha and to ignore her completely to teach her a lesson.Samir (Javed Jaffrey) is Ashish's shrink and advises him against this affair between an "Old rich man" and a "hot young girl" with daddy issues. Following more frequent visits, they begin a romantic relationship and cohabit. They discuss difficult issues with fun and humor and get to know each other better in the process. Ashish is divorced and has 2 kids from his previous marriage. Ayesha keeps meeting Ashish, even though she knows that the age gap between them is too big. Ayesha is impressed with Ashish's body when she sees him boxing in the gym. Then again, Ashish saves Ayesha when a mugger tries to put his hands on her. They end up having sex that night. Eventually, they start thinking about their future. Ayesha wants to get married and have kids. Ashish is clear that he doesn't want kids in his new relationship. Ayesha realizes that with her Ashish would have to live his life all over again, repeating everything. And she would always be the girl who marries him for money. Ashish knows that it is a matter of habit.But then she realizes that she has fallen for Ashish and ends up in an angry outburst at him, while he was on a date. Ayesha says that she is in love with him and is now habitual of him. A reluctant Ashish agrees to marriage after Ayesha proposes to him.Ashish takes Ayesha to his parents' Veerendra Mehra (Alok Nath) & Suman Mehra's (Madhumalti Kapoor) residence in Manali to gain their approval. There, he sees that his family, comprising ex-wife Manju (Tabu), daughter Ishita (Inayat Sood) and son Ishaan (Bhavin Bhanushali) now live with his parents. Ashish, who was not aware of the arrangement, is startled, and Ayesha is livid as Ishita is only 25, a year younger than her.Ishita is not happy to see Ashish and takes out her frustrations on him. The cool & suave Ashish is nervous and unsure when both Ayesha and Manju are around. Suresh Khurana (Jimmy Shergill) lives in the cottages run by Ashish's parents and is implied that he is dating Manju. Ashish asks Ayesha to give him time till Ishita's in-laws leave and then he will tell the truth to his family members. For now, he tells everyone that Ayesha is his secretary.Ishita's to-be-father-in-law Atul (Kumud Mishra) visits the family, which causes a disagreement as Ishita had told Atul and Rishi (Rajveer Singh), her boyfriend, that her father had died in her childhood. The problem is settled after Ashish covers up the confusion with lies. Ashish says that Manju is his sister. There is subtle tension between Ayesha and Manju as Manju keeps needling Ayesha and slowly Ayesha starts giving it back to Manju in her own currency.Meanwhile, Ishaan tries to hit on Ayesha. Ishita sees Ayesha and Ashish together and gets really angry and throws Ashish's stuff out of the house. She tells the truth to Rishi that Ashish is her father. Atul and Rishi break the marriage. Ishita is livid at Ashish, but Manju steps in and defends Ashish in front of his family and says that Ashish did nothing wrong. She tells Ishita that the wedding broke because of her own lie and that Ashish showed courage in bringing Ayesha to meet everyone, else he had the option to simply elope.That night Ashish and Manju talk, and Ashish ends up sleeping with Manju. He decides to tell Ayesha. Ayesha is angry that Ashish cheated on her and then she finds out that Ashish is not even divorced from Manju, they are just separated.Ayesha also leaves. Ashish goes to Atul and fixes things between Rishi and Ishita. Manju sees that Ashish is disappointed as Ayesha leaves. Manju confronts Ayesha & tells her that when people don't fall in love with one night sex, how do they fall out of it because of it. Manju tells Ayesha that Ashish is his and that she has signed the divorce papers. In last Ayesha and Ashish argues for going to Ayesha's house.
